I loved the characters and wanted more of their life.Be careful what you ask for.This was one of the most boring, cliched, and annoying books I've read in awhile.Here's what I didn't find great:The pacing was terrible- So, have you ever met up with an old friend One that you were close to and one you'd love to catch up with That's what this is. Except... you spend the next six hours listening to stories about their life that are much more fascinating to them than they will ever be to you. You know all about their cat, their new house, all about their friends, their job and their love. Every detail. And when they get to the part that's even remotely worth listening to, they give you about five minutes of intrigue, tie it all together with a pretty bow and say that's that. It is at this point you're stuck between picking up your dessert fork and stabbing them in the eye or changing your name, canceling all social media and entering the witness protection program just on the off chance they were thinking of speaking to you. Ever. That's pretty much what this book does.The Characters- Oh boy. I adored Simon and Caroline the first time around. This time I wanted to slap Caroline and puke on Simon. Caroline came across kinda whiny, self preoccupied, shallow, predictable and boring. Simon was just a bit too perfect. If you're sketching the perfect man, well, you'd just draw him. Even his flaws were too cookie cutter for my tastes. And while the peripheral characters were fun, they almost were too fun. I wanted to see their insides much more than I cared about Simon and Caroline.The Style Gods- The whole thing just didn't flow. There was too much (I'm having trouble describing this) rim shot type of exposition. Every anecdote tried way to hard to be witty and when you try that hard it can come across as cheesy and pathetic. Since Caroline is the narrator, I think that's why I didn't like her. And if I read the word "Wallbanger" one more time, my head was going to pop off.Bored- I was bored for about 85% of the story. There was no pop. I knew where the story was going about a tenth of the way in, but I'd hoped it would still be told well. I just didn't enjoy it. It was basically exactly what you'd expect to read about a relationship. Every relationship really goes through this. That's fine and dandy, but there was nothing new here.The Love- Well, seeing as no one really talks about anything, not anything directly, but there's a lot of love making (boring and repetitive love making) going on, basically that's all we really see about their actual relationship (seriously, like every time their together they end up in bed) I kind of felt like this relationship won't last past this book. That's not the kind of image you're going for in this kind of story.I just didn't get it. Nothing made me giddy with joy, unlike the first novel. Mostly, I rolled my eyes and just got through it.The highlight The epilogue. If the entire book was written as well as the epilogue this would have been fantastic.And that's the most disappointing thing of all.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful.Very DisappointedBy Trish BuddnerI really enjoyed Wallbanger so when some time had passed and I was looking for something to read, I went back through the books I enjoyed and looked up the Author's. I was so excited to see that Alice Clayton had written a couple more books in the series. Weird, why wasn't this the rave in my Facebook fan book roomsI paid almost 9.00 for this book and it took me close to seven days to read it. It did not keep my interest and many times I just wanted to stop reading it but at over 8.00 for an ebook, I was determined to read it to the end.Not sure what happened. Does not seems as thought this books was well planned out. It dragged on until my eyes glazed over at the debts of boredom this book brought. Alice Clayton is a great author her books are refreshingly hilarious and a mixture of romance and reality. This book did not disappoint, like Wallbanger it has sassiness, flirty banter, wit and was laugh out loud funny. However it was a little deeper as it dealt with the reality of starting a relationship when the giddy, crazy beginnings settle and life gets in the way.Simon and Caroline have amazing chemistry, the have the perfect mix of sexy, sassy banter and are hot between the sheets as well as other places. They are content in their relationship and find that it works perfectly for them. It may not be for everyone but it works solid for both of them. Distance makes the heart grow fonder and true to it’s words when Simon walks back through those doors fireworks are ignited!We not only continue with Caroline’s relationship but we also follow Jillian and Benjamin, Mimi and Ryan and Sophie and Neil, oh and who can forget Clive. Rusty Nailed had such a heavier tone to it then Wallbanger, and I think it needed it. The relationship between Simon and Caroline was evolving and things needed to grow. We finally got to delve into Simon's past and I felt like he opened up more. Another glorious 5 stars!See all 542 customer reviews...
