Unfortunately, the setup had me nervous from the start.Our heroine is an Imp who has lived on the run for decades, she finally took chance, settled down, bought a house and became a business owner and was finally happy... until he finds her.I really didn't care for the kidnapping/slave/master thing that brings the leads together, there's such an imbalanced of power and he *will* have her, she is *his*. Initially, this skirted the line and I was worried that we might stray into questionable consent territory -nope, his overwhelming sexual mojo makes her forget all her qualms. Still, I wasnt happy that a HEA for them means she has to give up everything she's built. This was the first release so I expected the set up of the new world and how dragons acted, their rules etc. but I didn't get that. We meet Baine and learn a little of his background. Not really sure why he was so obsessed with Tayla. Tayla ran from him 25 years ago and has felt him watching her over the years but it is never really explain what happen over the years and why he kept looking or she kept running. When they did get together, Baine is hot and has dragon kisses that brand her skin. When they have sex, they are surrounded in fire. Again, details on this and how it works would of given insight to the new dragon world but it was not explained.Not a lot of details to set up this new series.Overall, if you are a fan of AI you will want to read this ( just as hot and sexy as Guardians) and hope the next one is longer and more details given to understand this new world we are being introduced to0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.A Good Book, worth the readBy ShauniOriginally Reviewed For: Tea and BookBurned by Darkness is the first book in Dragons of Eternity Series, a spinoff from Alexandra Ivy's, Guardians of Eternity Series.. It's a sweet, intense introduction to the world of Dragons with the only real cross over being everyone's favorite gargoyle, Levit.Tayla has been in hiding for over 25 years. She was captured by trolls and sold to a dragon as slave labor. Then the dragon somehow for some reason agreed to sell her to his son, a totally gorgeous specimen, both dragon and man, but Tayla was having none of it. She escaped and his been living under the radar for years. Only a spell gone wrong by her quirky but lovable tenant (yep you guessed it, Levit) opened up her shields and her secret was out. Captured once again by the dragon that owned her Tayla wanted nothing more than to escape. Only she is slowly discovering that nothing was really what she thought it was.. And that dragon He's still too gorgeous for words.Baine is an independent dragon, a thinker, a dragon of worth. Not one of those pillage and kill type dragons. He's also not the slave owning type but when he walked into his father's home (on command not because he wanted to) he was struck.. literally. His mate was his father's new slave. He did all he could to get her out of his father's hands but before he could explain things to Tayla she disappeared. Now, finally, he has her back and he will do anything to keep her safe. And hopefully make her fall in love with him.This was just a good book. I'm not going to rave on it because I was expecting something a bit "more". But I do think it was an excellent introduction to this new series. It was intriguing, introduced us to several new characters and kept open the lines of communications with characters from other series.
